Malik Peiris Honoured at Encaenia

Congratulations to Professor Malik Peiris (1977 DPhil Virology) for being awarded an Honorary Degree at this year's Encaenia. He is pictured here with Keble Warden Dr Sir Michael Jacobs (left) and Emeritus Fellow Dr Simon Hunt (right).

A clinical and public health virologist with a particular interest in emerging viral diseases, Professor Peiris is one of four newly-elected Honorary Fellows at Keble this term.

Stephen Fletcher Awarded RSC Prize

Keble Tutorial Fellow Stephen Fletcher was one of six Oxford scientists awarded a Royal Society of Chemistry annual Research and Innovation Prize.

Stephen received the ‘Merck, Sharp and Dohme Prize’ for his research on cross-coupling reactions. Read more here.

Keble Maths Lecturers Receive MPLS Teaching Awards

Keble Mathematics Lecturers Dr Brian Tyrrell and Dr Neil Laws have both been recognised in the 2023 Mathematical, Physical, and Life Sciences (MPLS) Division Teaching Awards.

Dr Brian Tyrrell, Stipendiary Lecturer in Pure Mathematics, has been recognised for his work on making maths ‘a more approachable and friendlier subject for all’ through his teaching and outreach work.

Dr Neil Laws, Senior College Lecturer at Keble, and Director of Studies in Statistics, was nominated by the Department of Statistics for playing a pivotal role in numerous teaching innovations in recent years.

Imogen Choi Awarded Leverhulme International Fellowship

Dr Imogen Choi, Keble Stipendiary Lecturer in Spanish and Associate Professor at the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages, has been honoured with the highly esteemed Leverhulme International Fellowship.

This opportunity will take Dr Choi to Madrid, where she will serve as a Visiting Fellow at the Universidad Eclesiástica San Dámaso and Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Dr Choi will be researching 'Sacred epic and diasporic communities in the early modern Hispanic world’, specifically exploring Sephardic literary networks, with a focus on the influential poet Miguel de Silveira.
