Focusing on Graduate Scholarships
On average, the current cost for a graduate student is £30,000 per year. We are focused on increasing the funds available for graduate scholarships to encourage the best students from the UK, EU and overseas to apply, and the most talented Keble students who achieve first-class undergraduate degrees to stay on with us.
College News
We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Professor Amy Bogaard as the new Professor of European Archaeology at the University of Oxford and Fellow at Keble College. Professor Bogaard will take on the prestigious role in the upcoming academic year, succeeding Professor Chris Gosden, who has held the Chair since 2006.
Keble has elected four new distinguished individuals to its Honorary Fellowship: Malik Peiris, Angela Saini, Kate Varah, and Yasumasa Nagamine.
The College is delighted to announce the appointment of accomplished organist, conductor and academic Christian Wilson as Director of Music at Keble from September. The appointment follows the departure of Chris Bucknall, who will be pursuing his career as a harpsichordist and conductor full-time.
Congratulations to Paul Newman, Keble Professorial Fellow and BP Professor of Information Engineering, who has been appointed a Commander of the British Empire (CBE) for services to engineering and technology.
The Keble Debates are a programme of termly conversations, bringing together leading figures from the worlds of theatre, fiction and poetry.
Eric Symes Abbott (1906-1983) was, successively, Dean of King’s College, London, Warden of Keble, and Dean of Westminster. Following his death, his friends established an annual lecture in his memory. This year’s lecturer, Professor Anthony Reddie, is a leading figure in the area of Black Theology in the UK and beyond.
Keble is one of ten colleges making offers to students in the University’s inaugural Astrophoria Foundation Year programme. Four of the 35 offers made are at Keble, in PPE, Law, English, and History.
After a fruitful year of regular Chapel services, topped up by exciting events including the Keble Early Music Festival this February, Keble Chapel Choir celebrated the end of the academic year with a whistlestop visit to the charming city of Turku, Finland.

Student Life
Keble is proud to celebrate the achievements of DPhil student Róisín Kennelly (2022 Anthropology), who has been awarded a Study Abroad Studentship by the Leverhulme Trust. The award will enable Róisín to conduct research on climate change, infrastructure, and water in the Faroe Islands.
The first Keble Association Arts Leadership Awards were presented at this year’s St Mark’s dinner on Sunday 23 April. Made possible through generous funding from Keble alumnus Mike Fawcett (1972 Literae Humaniores), the awards recognise and celebrate artistic excellence and leadership — students who are initiators, innovators and doers.
In the world of target shooting, Asia Hoile (2021 DPhil Interdisciplinary Bioscience) has emerged as a trailblazer and an inspiration. As President and Blues Captain of the Oxford University Rifle Club (OURC), Asia has not only achieved remarkable personal success but has also spearheaded efforts to create a more inclusive and thriving community within the club.
Last Trinity Term, the College introduced The Jonathan and Amanda Phillips Awards as a fitting tribute to the outgoing Warden and his wife. The awards recognise the many contributions that students — undergraduates and graduates — make to College life.
Trinity Term presented an exciting and eventful season for sport at Keble, with College clubs displaying their dedication and skill in various sporting disciplines. We take a closer look at some of the achievements from each.
I am honoured to be a recipient of one of the Griffiths Awards in 2022/23 which has provided funding for a study trip to Australia. It has been an honour to captain Keble Cricket Club (KCCC) in its 150th year. We were delighted to receive a characteristically amusing letter of congratulations and well wishes from Stephen Fry, President of the MCC, who had been informed of the landmark occasion.
Keble College’s Law Society, the Harris Society, is named in honour of former law tutor Professor James (‘Jim’) Harris FBA. It organises an annual lecture, this year delivered in the College on 16 May 2023 by the Rt Hon Lady Justice Carr DBE.

Alumni News
Alumni of all ages will be sad to see that Veronika Kovacs will be leaving the College team this summer. Veronika has been our wonderful Alumni Relations Manager for the past six years and has approached the role with dedication and enthusiasm.
Listening to valuable feedback from our alumni about how much they missed Keble’s family-friendly events of old, we decided to trial a special event for families on the day of our annual Summer Dinner.
Alumni Relations Manager Veronika talked to Alumna and award-winning journalist Ione Wells (English 2014) about her remarkable journey and becoming the youngest Political Correspondent for the BBC.
Recent publications from the Keble alumni community. Authors include Alice Robb, Jared Margulies, Nicholas Brownlees, Patrick Lambe, Craig Robinson, and Simon Jakes.
Lyndsay Lomax (2001 Theology) was inspired to take up Netball again in 2019 as a way of increasing her social circle after moving to Switzerland. This tapped into and revived a competitive streak developed while playing at Keble as an undergraduate.
Keble held its own stand-alone golf day last October at Huntercombe Golf Club, with 18 holes of golf in this lovely venue being followed by a meal.
After graduating with a BA in History and Modern Languages (2018), Sanjna Banerjee (Sanju) took up a position as a teaching fellow at the Asian University for Women (AUW) in Bangladesh, providing English tuition for students undertaking the pre-undergraduate programme.
