College News in Brief...

Chapel 150

2026 marks the 150th anniversary of the Chapel, with an exciting lineup of concerts and events. The Chapel and its Music have been integral to College life since Keble’s foundation: 150 years on, the vision of our founders continues to be reflected here in a thriving and inclusive Chapel life. This anniversary presents a special opportunity for us to fund our numerous important projects in music, welfare, and worship. We hope you will consider contributing to this timely appeal to ensure that the Chapel can thrive for another 150 years and beyond!

Recognition of Distinction

Alfonso Bueno-Orovio, Keble Computer Science Fellow, has been awarded the title of full professor through the University of Oxford's 2025 Recognition of Distinction Scheme. Alfonso has demonstrated evidence of research excellence, committed and effective teaching, and good citizenship, including activities of service on committees, EDI initiatives and public engagement.

Teaching Awards

Our congratulations to Dr Martin Gillies, Keble alumnus and non-stipendiary College Lecturer in Anatomy, and Professor Robert Klose, Professorial Fellow in Genetics at Keble, for receiving Excellent Teacher Awards in the 2025 Teaching Excellence Awards scheme. These awards honour individuals who have demonstrated sustained excellence in teaching and in supporting students’ learning and research skills across the Collegiate University and the NHS.

Former Warden Positive Impact

Sir Christopher Ball, Keble Warden from 1980 to 1988, has recently marked two significant acts of public service. In May, he took on the feat of running and walking 10k in the Lake District one month after turning 90 in order to raise money for 10 charities. On 17 September, he was voted Oxford’s Climate Action Champion at the 2025 Oxford Climate Awards for his life-long dedication to climate change awareness.
