Introducing: Portrait of Keble II

Some of the portraits in the Portrait of Keble II photographic exhibition

Three years after the launch of the ‘Portrait of Keble’ photographic exhibition as part of the College’s 150th anniversary, we continue to celebrate the achievements of some of the most influential and successful members of our diverse community through the installation in Hall of ‘Portrait of Keble II’.

As with the original exhibition, all images were taken by British portrait photographer Fran Monks, who is known for celebrating the under-celebrated through her painterly portraits of the individuals shaping our world.

Fran notes: “It has been such a privilege to meet and make portraits of a second set of 28 remarkable individuals from the Keble community. The resulting pictures invite you to look up and be curious about why each person was selected. As I made photographs, I heard tales of resilience and tenacity. I hope these new faces and stories will inspire a further generation of Keble changemakers.”

The portrait subjects represent different genders, ethnicities, disabilities, socio-economic backgrounds and LGBTQ+ communities, and the portraits’ subjects were nominated by their peers for their contributions to making major, positive differences in their communities.

While the first ‘Portrait of Keble’ exhibition launched in 2019, the second exhibition was installed in September of 2022, with the 28 featured portraits of members of the Keble community set to remain hanging in Hall until 2024.

The exhibition itself was generously funded by alum Mike Thomas (1965 History).
