King’s Birthday Honours

We are pleased to share that the following Keble alumni have been recognised in the 2026 King’s Birthday Honours list.

His Honour Judge Jonathan Lee Rose (1981 Jurisprudence), Resident Judge at Bradford Crown Court and Honorary Recorder of Bradford, has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the administration of justice and to the young people of Bradford.

Caroline Redfern, née Boddington (1983 Theology), Prebendary and Senior Non-Executive Member at Wells Cathedral, has been made an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) for services to the Church of England.

General Assembly Clerk

Our congratulations to Reverend Jonathan Boyd (2001 Physics), who has been appointed Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. The role is part of the church’s senior leadership, overseeing governance and helping to support the work of its commissions and councils. Jonathan is very grateful for the many messages of encouragement that he has already received. “We have many warm-hearted, encouraging people in our denomination who want to get on with doing things together that God has called us to do.”

Best Doctoral Dissertation Prize

Congratulations to Dr Natasha Holcroft-Emmess (2009 Jurisprudence, BCL, DPhil), who has been awarded the Oxford Nicolas Berggruen Prize for Best Doctoral Dissertation in Philosophy, Law and Politics. The prestigious annual award recognises an outstanding doctoral thesis that is both academically excellent and transformative in theory or practice. Natasha received the prize for her DPhil dissertation, Human Rights in Conflicts and Crises: Derogation under Human Rights Treaties, which examines when states may lawfully suspend certain human rights obligations during war or public emergencies. Welcome Back
30+ Years On

In early July, we were thrilled to welcome back so many 1990-1994 alumni for their Reunion. The weekend programme was packed with insightful talks, including Access and Outreach, current academic research and round-table discussions led by alumni. Stories, laughs and memories were shared throughout. Many alumni took the opportunity to sing with the choir at Evensong before the celebrations culminated with a Drinks Reception on Liddon and a lively full Hall for the formal Gaudy dinner. We are grateful to Zina Etheridge (1990 Modern History) for her inspiring and humorous toast to the College. Thanks to all our speakers and presenters, and, above all, to our wonderful alumni for coming!

Henley Women’s Regatta

Congratulations to Noemi Suter (2024 Visiting Student), who raced in the 2026 Henley Women’s Regatta, reaching the quarter-final for the Lightweight Single Scull trophy.

Research Call

Eric Rutten (2018 DPhil Oncology) writes: “Curative radiotherapy for cancer is a highly data-driven process: imaging, biopsies and histopathological analysis are conducted before a treatment plan is decided. However, there is currently no clinically relevant way to determine whether a tumour is radiation resistant, which can cause treatment failure and recurrence. Since last year, I’ve been developing a multimodal approach integrating traditional analysis with cutting-edge biomarkers to identify, predict, and mechanistically characterise radiation resistance prior to (or evolved during) therapy. I am actively looking to discuss with clinicians about your clinical needs, experiences, and the problems you want solved in radiation therapy. Free Wills Service Launch

Writing a Will and deciding how your assets should be distributed is an important step that can provide peace of mind for you and your loved ones. To support alumni in this process, we are delighted to offer access to a free Will Writing Service through The Taylor Lucas Partnership.

The service, available for Wills in England and Wales, has been designed to encourage more people to make a Will and is provided completely free of charge.
