The Keble Sports Fund | A Year On

Since its launch in Michaelmas 2024, the College has completed the first phase of the Keble Sports Fund, marking a significant step in strengthening financial support for sport. Thanks to the generosity of donors, annual sports funding has more than doubled, increasing from £16,000 to almost £35,000, and can now fully meet the costs of student involvement in University sport through to 2030.

Every College team is now fully funded, so students will no longer be asked to contribute towards match fees, officials, or equipment. The Fund also supports coaching provision where it is most needed, and covers team kit.

Keble Football captain Nick Tredre (2024 Biomedical Sciences):

“I’d like to express a massive thank-you to our donors. The new Sports Fund has enabled us to order 15 brand-new Nike kits in trademark Keble red. These will not only solve our kit shortage but also help us look like one of the best college teams in the university once again.”

In addition, the Fund offers financial support to Keble students competing for the University. This applies not only to Blues athletes but also to the 2nd and 3rd teams and squad members, helping to promote broader engagement across all levels of competition.

By removing the financial barriers to participation, the Sports Fund is enabling more students to take part in sport during their time at Keble. Over the next five years, this investment will continue to make sport more accessible and inclusive, while supporting both College and University representation.

Georgina Wright (1994 Geography):

“I’m a firm believer in exercise being important for both physical and mental well-being. Sport was an integral part of my own experience at Keble. I was delighted to be able to support the Keble Sports Fund, and increase the opportunity to participate in sport, at any level, for Keble students.”
