Eastern European Oenology | DPS and TS Lecture and Dinner

This term, we held the annual Douglas Price Society (DPS) and Talbot Society (TS) lecture and dinner, hosted by Master of Wine, alumna Caroline Gilby (1982 Botany).

Caroline is a leading expert wine consultant, writer, and judge at international wine competitions such as the World Wine Awards.

During the lecture, Caroline presented several wines, showcasing central and eastern European wines from Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia. The lecture was then followed by a drinks reception, where guests were able to enjoy a sparkling rosé from the Logodaj Winery in Bulgaria, and a formal dinner in Hall, sampling a Cabernet Franc from the Kavarna vineyard and two Tokajis from the Dobogó and Balassa wineries.

Talbot Society Member Stephen Tozer commented, “The wine tasting was informative, and I think everyone probably discovered some new wine that they really enjoyed — the atmosphere was brilliant.”

This annual event brings together members from the DPS, which recognises our generous supporters who have kindly included a gift to Keble in their Will, and the TS, which recognises individuals who choose to support the College through regular gifts, regardless of the amount or frequency.

Keble ‘dinosaur’ (10+ years giving) and Talbot Society Member Aline Rogers (1982 Biochemistry) shared, “We enjoyed meeting alumni and guests from a range of different years, who we would never have otherwise come into contact with.”

The next annual DPS lecture and dinner will take place on Saturday 27 September 2025.

A new TS London event will take place in Trinity Term — keep an eye out for an announcement.
