London Carols

On 13 December, we were delighted to hold our inaugural Carol Service in London for Keble alumni and friends. All Saints Margaret Street provided the perfect venue for the College alumni community to gather together before Christmas, bringing a snippet of Keble to the heart of London through its beautiful Butterfield architecture. Our Chapel Choir and Organ Scholars travelled up to London for this special service of lessons and carols, lead the congregation in carol singing and treated us to a selection of solo pieces from Vaughan Williams to Paul Edwards, alongside other traditional favourites.

We were also thrilled to have alumni read the lessons at the service—many thanks to Ed Balls (1985 PPE), Prudence Buckley (1984 Biological Sciences), Sam Edwards (2017 History), Jemima Richardson-Jones (2017 Geography), John Bolodeoku (1995 Medicine), and Ell Potter (2014 English) for their superb readings. A big thank you must also go out to our wonderful Chapel Choir, Organ Scholars, and of course the joyous congregation for making it such a special event.

After the service, the congregation had the chance to catch up with fellow alumni and friends at the church over a glass of mulled wine and a mince pie.

It was wonderful to see so many alumni hold mini-reunions after the service, and we do hope this will become an annual event for former students and friends to celebrate the festive season with us. We hope you all have a very happy Christmas and New Year, and hope to see you again in 2024!

The London Carol Service was generously supported by our donors Andrew Barlow (1971 Music), Vivek Sharma (1988 Engineering) and Charles Burrows (1983 PPE). If you would like to make a donation to the Chapel and Chapel Choir, of become a friend of Keble Chapel, you can do so here.
