Student Life in Brief…
Keble Ball
Following a one-year hiatus, Keble Ball returned to the Trinity Term calendar this May. Expertly organised by Hannah Wilson (2025 MSc Archaeological Science), the evening transported event attendees into an 'Enchanted Forest’. The night featured a variety of live music, headlined by Aston Merrygold, bumper cars, gourmet food stalls and both a ceilidh in Liddon Quad and dancing in the Ball’s marquee.
MCR Football
On the heels of several highly successful years for Keble Football, Keble MCR FC completed a remarkable season, going from struggling to field a team in 2024-25, to becoming League champions and Cuppers semi-finalists in 2025-26. After an opening defeat, the side won all but one League matches, recording a series of victories and developing a strong squad culture built on commitment, competition and teamwork. Although their Cuppers campaign ended in a hard-fought semi-final defeat to Worcester in difficult conditions, the team responded by securing the League title with dramatic wins in the closing weeks of the season, capping an outstanding year.
Borders, Belonging & Building Futures
Chloe Parry (2021 Medicine) co-led a two-day long conference on refugee health, rights and belonging in May. She writes: “After nine long months of planning, seeing the conference come to life with over 100 attendees was incredibly special. Across the weekend, we heard from powerful speakers, shared thoughtful reflections, and brought together an enthusiastic audience around an issue that feels especially urgent in the current political climate. After several years of volunteering with refugee and migrant communities, it was deeply meaningful to help create a space centred on dignity, solidarity, and practical action. It was a real labour of love, and a privilege to see it realised.”
Rowing Success
Congratulations to Harry Geffen (2025 MSc African Studies), who has enjoyed an outstanding start to the international rowing season, winning silver medals with the Great Britain men's eight at both the 2026 World Rowing Cup I in Seville and the 2026 World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne. Harry helped the crew to second place behind Germany in Seville before another impressive silver-medal performance in Lucerne, where Great Britain finished just behind the Netherlands in a closely contested final.
